The letter further states that I should expect to receive my new permanent resident card, commonly known as the green card, within 60 days. The new card will also include a mailer with the form I-730 and information about permanent resident services available to me. However, it is important for me to note that I should not travel outside the United States before receiving my new green card. There could be difficulties in re-entering the country if an emergency arises and I need to travel. In such an event, I am advised to make an appointment at my local USCIS office to request a stamp in my passport as temporary evidence of my status as a lawful permanent resident.
